Notorious sex offender Peter Whitmore
was finally arrested in Regina for the abduction, sexual
assault, threats with a knife and torture of a l0 year
old boy and a teenage boy ----- after spending a lifetime
of reprehensible, repugnant crimes against unsuspecting
children. His career reportedly started at age 18 in
1988 with sex crimes against 5 boys aged 11 13,
for which he was sentenced to 16 months, plus 5 months
time served. Within 9 days after his release he was
on the prowl again, posing as a worker in a child protection
program and the sex crimes continued. Who can say how
many offences were committed without his being caught?
Although Whitmore, over the years, reportedly
did not cooperate with treatment for sex offenders offered
in prison, although he was reported many times to be
at high risk to re-offend, and although he even admitted
he feared he would likely offend again, he was released
over and over onto our streets after serving short sentences.
Thus a message was sent that such crimes against children
were trivial. We need a strong deterrent. Little wonder
Canada is becoming a pedophile haven.
On July. 24/07 Whitmore managed to escape
a dangerous offender tag, which the Crown had previously
promised publicly. He knows the law better than most
of us. He managed to plead guilty in Regina to charges
of abduction and sexual assault against the two young
boys in question, in exchange for a term incorrectly
named life sentence ------ a plea bargain
which makes him eligible for parole after 7 years .
If he wasnt granted parole at that time, lifers
are eligible for another review after two years.
Dont underestimate Whitmore. On
July 27 CTV reported that Whitmore had stated he would
like to remove his sex drive by chemical castration,
and dreams of the freedom he will have by proving hes
a changed man.
Fortunately Prime Minister Stephan Harper,
Oct. 17/06, introduced Bill C-27, the dangerous/high
risk offenders act. By it anyone committing a 2nd offence
involving a serious second sex or violent crime would
receive a life sentence, to be life with
no release possible unless a qualified professional
deemed otherwise. Unfortunately the opposition parities
have failed to support this Bill. Elected officials
know another election is coming up. Write or e-mail
your MP in support of Bill C-27. One letter represents
l,000 people. Our children deserve our efforts.
