It is a queer thing!

By Brian Rushfeldt
CFAC Executive Director

I use the word queer and I am called bigot, homophobe and hateful. But a queer magazine uses the word and they are proud and applauded. They claim they are expressing diversity.

I conclude there is a group who are so proud of their diversity, they respect no one else’s diversity.

It is not respectful of diversity when I or others “ like me”, whom oppose a certain sexual behavior are labeled, attacked. That sexual behavior I refer to happens to be very unnatural and in fact is known to spread a tremendous amount of diseases. But for me to oppose IT gains me and those “like me” reputations of bigot, homophobe, hateful, narrow minded, intolerant, fascist, Taliban and other nasty verbs and adjectives that I will not repeat. In fact my opposition to sodomy caused one person to send me, unsolicited, in an email (which the police are investigating), graphic images of two men sodomizing each other. The images reinforce the fact that it is an unnatural, unclean and unhealthy act upon another human being. This is not even an opinion , it is scientific fact in the 2000s. To those who disagree, I say get into the “progressive” learning curve and out of the stone age.

So let us start to come to grips with the intolerance of homosexual activists. I have often expressed my opinion, belief, scientific fact and reality regarding sodomy. For this I am accused of having no respect for diversity and equality. For being hateful and on and on.

First, diversity means difference, does it not? Different opinions , differing values. But my opinion, belief or values are somehow excluded from the diversity of ideas and dialogue by many “activists”.

That is what is narrow minded and hateful and violates Charter rights.

I have stated that sodomy is not equal to copulation or conjugal acts. And it is scientific fact that it is not equal. For stating this fact, not making it up, just stating it, I have been investigated for hate crime, I have received hate mail and even death threats.

So much for diversity – well maybe the death threat from the Queer Nation could be defended in a Canadian court as diversity. Especially since some judges in Canada have lost their way on justice, the meaning of certain English words, and even written law. Political correctness – a term coined to suit the “ tolerant activists” and the “respecters of diversity” has taken the place of reason, fact and justice.

Just who in the debate about marriage has shown their tolerance, and respect for diversity? The attempts to silence debate, through threats and intimidation may work some of the time with some of the people. I have not seen the pro-marriage side whining and crying foul and running to courts and human rights commissions because of the “diversity tolerant” attacks upon them.

There are those who defend marriage who will not be silenced because they are the true defenders of diversity and justice.

To all those I applaud and say carry on with courage, commitment, passion and cause. It is the right cause and you have the right to express your diversity.
