Our
point has been proven:
CFAC presented a brief before the Senate Committee regarding
Bill C 250 on Wednesday March 17. We attempted to present
as one reason Bill C 250 must be defeated is because it
restricts persons who want to speak to various concerns
about "sexual orientation" , in other words
homosexual behaviour. We attempted to point out the medical
dangers of homosexual behaviour and our concern that discussion
and debate about the medical consequences would be prohibited
and would be regarded as hate propagation.
Well voila !!! , one Senator on the Committee did a brilliant
job of proving our point. Thank you Senator Lynch Staunton.
The senator interrupted and condemned CFAC for stating
medical consequences based on facts. He wonderfully proved
our concern about oppressing free speech even when it
is based on fact and truth. The senator interrupted and
then said "what we have heard here today is mean-spirited...".
But the medical evidence gives us the facts. At another
point he interrupted with this comment, " I resent
the attack on anyone's sexual behaviour." He also
argued with the presenter about what should be allowed
in debate for Bill C 250.
That proves the concerns CFAF has had since the day this
dangerous Bill was introduced in Parliament several years
ago. The oppression free speech is the intent of this
senator and the Bill. C250 has nothing to do with protecting
homosexuals from any kind of violence. In fact Section
318 and 319 is not about violence at all - it is the law
on hate propaganda. It appears the senator thinks medical
facts and evidence is hate propaganda and anyone who dare
speak it is mean-spirited and promoting or maybe even
inciting hatred. Stating medical facts no more incites
violence or even hatred against homosexuals than stating
facts about STDs promotes violence against high school
students or University of Alberta students. Recent reports
put STDs at 25% of U of A population. Has there been an
increase in violence against those students?
The absurdity of the Senate trying to force this vile
and dangerous draconian Bill through before Parliament
recesses perhaps in early April is nothing short of Gestapo
tactics.
The next government elected must be prepared to rescind
C 250 if it is forced into law. The dishonest, disgusting,
and deceitful tactics that have surrounded this Bill since
the author Svend Robinson introduced it has made the Liberals
look like puppets of Robinson and the homosexual activists
who are intent on silencing ANY Canadian who dares speak
about homosexual behaviour whether based on religious
belief, on fact and evidence or due to conscience.
We must elect men and women next election who will not
be puppets, but have the courage to do what is right for
Canada.

There
is reason to believe that Parliament will recess around
the first of April. This means that there are just two
weeks left for Bill C-250 to be passed into law.
There
is still great uncertainty as to the outcome of this bill.
On
the one hand, it is certain that the Liberals in the Senate
are trying desperately to push this bill through. Yesterday,
even though the Senate itself was not sitting, the Standing
Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, which is
reviewing this bill, met specially to hear witnesses on
the bill. Witnesses opposed to the bill were jammed together
for two panels, each witness allowed only 5 10
minutes to state their position. The questions from the
Senators following the presentations were weak and disinterested.
The situation could be characterized as a pro forma
or for show, with the Senators having no genuine interest
in examining this bill.
The
Committee will be meeting again next Wednesday and Thursday,
March 24th and 25th respectively.
The
Committee has the obvious intention of avoiding the multitude
of requests by citizens to speak to this bill by ruling
that only the expenses of organizations would
be covered by the Senate, and not those of individuals.
Efforts are being made to undo this unprecedented ruling
but we cannot be sure these efforts will be successful,
resulting, unfortunately, in individuals having to cover
their own expenses in order to appear before the Committee.
According
to an article dated March 16th, 2004 on The Dominion Daily
Weblog, website http://dominionpaper.ca/weblog, homosexuals
believe that their bill is at risk of being lost. The
weblog quotes email correspondence from MP Svend Robinson
to his supporters which confirms this.
The
Senators wish to dispatch this bill into law within the
next two weeks. We must do everything possible to upset
their applecart.
The
Senate Committee Members, therefore, must be deluged with
demands to appear before the Committee on the basis that
this is required for reasons of democracy and just plain
decency. To ignore the views of the Canadian public on
this bill, in order to push through politically correct
legislation, may be the Liberal governments mode
of operation under Chrétien, but it is acceptable
no longer. It is intolerable.
We
must raise such a disturbance over the arrogant, high-handed
manoeuvring of this Committee, that it will be regarded
as politically dangerous for the government to proceed
with this bill at this sensitive time just before an election.
Senate
Government Leader, Jack Austin and Conservative Opposition
Leader Senator John Lynch-Staunton (who supports the bill)
must be made aware of the public fury over their denial
of the publics interests.
Please
contact the Committee Members and Senate House Leaders
immediately demanding to appear before the
Committee. If you are a member of some organization
any organization that would like to be represented
at the Committee Hearings, please make the necessary arrangements
immediately to do so now. Also, request to appear as an
individual if it is possible for you to do so.
This
is our last chance. We must push forward until the end.
