We
have another urgent issue to deal with:
Canada Family Action Coalition supports this call
to ALL Canadians to continue their pressure to defeat
Bill.
C
250. This vote will come at us before the marriage issue
does.
We
must not let the government off the hook on this dangerous
Bill C250.
We must remind the Liberals that their reputation is at
stake
over a radical private member Bill C 250.
Tell
your Liberal MP that Bill C 250 is a RE-ELECTION issue,
just as the marriage issue is. Both will affect my
vote next election.
Many
have called before the summer break - but we must
call again - call by at least September 15 or before .

Bill C-250 hate crime amendment to protect sexual
orientation.
The infamous Bill C-250, sponsored by homosexual NDP MP,
Svend Robinson, is to be voted on at third and final reading
on Wednesday, September 17 th, 2003. This bill, as you
know, adds sexual orientation as an identifiable characteristic
to be given special protection under the hate crimes provision
(s.319) of the Criminal Code.
The
date of September 17th, however, is subject to change
at the whim of the Liberals. We know, however, that the
Liberals are co-operating with Mr. Robinson to ensure
this bill is passed. The Liberals, therefore, may spring
the vote at any time that they feel will ensure its passage.
Please be alert to this. In the meantime, take every action
possible to stop this bill.
There
is no question that if this bill is passed, religious
groups and all those opposing special rights for homosexuals,
including same-sex marriages, will be subject to the threat
of criminal prosecution on the basis of alleged hate
as homosexuals regard any opposition to their agenda as
hateful. In this respect, the Irish Council
for Civil Liberties (ICCL), has stated that the recent
Vatican statement against same-sex marriages could cause
hatred which would violate the Irish 1989
Incitement to Hatred Act. We can only expect a similar
interpretation of the Vatican statement and other such
statements, if Bill C-250 is passed into law.
In
short, Bill C-250 will provide homosexual activists and
their supporters, such as Canadian Civil Liberties Association,
with the tool to shut down public debate on the homosexual
issue, including the highly controversial issue of same-sex
marriage. At the very least, the passing of this bill
will have a distinctly chilling effect on
this crucial debate.
The
House of Commons will resume sitting on Monday, September
15 th, 2003. Only two days later this crucial vote on
Bill C-250 may take place. IT MUST NOT PASS.
Action
Required
Write,
phone, fax your MP IMMEDIATELY expressing your views
and those on behalf of whom you speak (your church, social
group, etc., whatever) that they must vote against Bill
C-250. Advise your MP that failure to do so will directly
affect their re-election in the forthcoming 2004 election.
It
is important to note that telephone calls to your MPs
constituency office, or a personal visit, are the most
effective way to get your message across. Unfortunately,
we have learned that e-mails are the least effective,
as they can easily be ignored. More importantly, the MPs
do not know whether the sender is one of their constituents,
which MPs regard as crucial.
Also,
please think of five (5) people to assist you in this
project to spread the word and to create additional pressure
on your MP and provincial member of your legislature.
Insist
that your MP be present in the House of Commons on
Wednesday, September 17th to vote against Bill C-250,
or at any other date chosen by the Liberals. We know for
certain that the vote is imminent.
