Family Action Coalition (CFAC) says Justice Minister Martin
Cauchon's cross-Canada tour is nothing more than the efforts
of a dictatorship regime to indoctrinate the Canadian
public, using public tax dollars.
"Mr.
Cauchon is determined to force his personal views of homosexual
marriage on Canadians," says CFAC Executive Director
Brian Rushfeldt. "This reveals his on-going blatant
disregard for Canadian democracy. It is especially offensive
to Canadians who respect the traditional, heterosexual
marriage institution," he says.
Since
day one, Mr. Cauchon has demonstrated his contempt for
democracy on the issue of homosexual marriage, Rushfeldt
adds. "First, he asked for a Parliamentary Committee
to hold months of cross-Canada hearings on the issue.
Then, the day the Committee voted on this issue, the Liberals
removed members who opposed same-sex marriage and replaced
them with MPs who support same-sex marriage - MPs who
had not sat in on even one day of the presentations. Now,
because so many Canadians are outraged at the dictatorial
manner in which Mr. Cauchon and the Prime Minister have
been trying to force homosexual marriage on Canadians,
Cauchon is using tax dollars for nothing more than an
attempt to indoctrinate the Canadian public with his personal
and cultural views."
"It
is time that Canadians reject such dictatorial, undemocratic
antics, by rejecting Cauchon and every MP who supports
his costly, destructive strategy," says Rushfeldt.
"Even the Prime Minister seems to be coming to his
senses, by today suggesting that Parliament should debate
the marriage issue this fall after all."
The
Liberal government has claimed that the courts have already
decided and there's nothing they can do. "Now they
are spending your tax dollars to try and convince you
to accept what is nothing less than a judicial and political
dictatorship, and a complete mockery of democracy. They
lied to Canadians in 1999 when they voted on a motion
promising to "take all necessary steps to protect
marriage. Mr. Cauchon's actions are hypocritical, "
Mr. Rushfeldt says.
This
Cauchon tax-funded tour of indoctrination indicates the
level of desperation of some Liberals in their anti-democratic
and anti-religious actions, Mr. Rushfeldt adds. "Make
no mistake," says Mr. Rushfeldt. "We will ensure
that marriage, as well as Bill C-250, are election issues.
We WILL be holding MPs accountable for their actions on
these issues."
