Dear
CFAC supporters,
CFAC was deeply disappointed by the announcement yesterday
from the Conservative party that they would not reduce
funding for, or even review which arts, movies and
entertainment get your tax dollars and large tax breaks.
In fact CPC said they would keep the arts funding
at or above the current 3-7 billion dollars a year.
And of course the continued billion dollar support
for the CBC is despicable, just two weeks after a
CBC writer calls conservatives "white trash".
CFAC fought hard to see Bill C10, that had potential
to save millions of tax dollars, passed. The Liberal
dominated Senate interfered and manipulated that Bill
sending it back to the House. Of course when the election
was called Bill C10 died. Many polls indicate that
taxpayers do not want their tax payments going to
movies and "arts". The "arts"
socialist attitude of wanting unlimited access to
your money via taxes and credits is scary. Have they
ever stated just how much they want? No.
CPC is not likely to gain one vote from this handout,
but they risk losing votes from the true conservative
base.
Another concern is that Bill C484, designed to protect
the wanted unborn child of pregnant women, was dumped.
Now the "platform" mentions they will bring
in legislation to give added protection for pregnant
woman but will not recognize the baby in those instances.
That is a wrong, in fact the woman is already protected
by law covering the assault on her. So what have they
accomplished?
Many of the other CPC planks are good approaches to
issues that concern many Canadians.
The financial crisis especially affects all of us.
The matter of how much taxes we pay is a huge concern.
Spending at this point must be as curtailed as possible.
Individuals will have to slim their budgets, so governments
must slim their budgets also.
Real conservative principles have shown for many years
they best suit strong families and healthy society.
The election October 14th will produce a new government
- will it be fiscally responsible and socially just?
