Julian Fantino, Ontario Police Commissioner: Exclusive ichannel Interview

LET'S TALK
Thursday, March 22
at 8pm and 11pm (ET)

Join host Annamarie Castrilli on LET'S TALK, for an exclusive interview with Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino.

Fantino reflects upon his family’s immigration to Canada, and the challenges currently facing law enforcement in Canada’s multi-cultural society.

The Commissioner also cites his commitment to protecting children from pedophiles and child pornographers, comparing law enforcement’s battle with child pornography to the war on international terrorism.

“We have people who prey on children actively in this community. Some of them are in positions of pillars of the community. There is very much a false sense of security. It’s just like saying there is no terrorism in Canada.” The commissioner alludes to the fact that terrorism has come to the forefront since September 11th, but “we’ve had terrorism for a good long time”.

He claims that measures to locate and punish offenders are “drowned out by a pro-pedophile kind of movement”, saying, “sentences that are being meted out don’t really address the crime for what it is”.

Between 1991 and 1998, Fantino created controversy as Chief of Police in London, Ontario, when he launched Project Guardian. That comprehensive community child pornography investigation raised protests from members of the gay community, who accused the project of being homophobic.

Don’t miss this revealing conversation with Ontario’s top police official on LET'S TALK Thursday, March 22nd, at 8:00pm. Special encore presentation at 11:00pm.
